Bruins colors
The Boston Bruins play in Boston, Massachusetts, and use 2 registered colours: Gold and Black. Every value below is listed in hexadecimal, red green blue, hue saturation lightness, and approximate cyan magenta yellow black, with contrast results computed from the values themselves.
These values are not yet verified
The colour values on this page are illustrative placeholders used while the site is being built. Each one must be traced to the team's own published brand assets and dated before it is presented as fact — see the method page. Do not use these figures for print or production yet.

Which pairings carry text
4 pairings measuredComputed with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines relative luminance formula. These decide whether a player name, a score or body copy stays readable.
Strongest and weakest combination
The highest-contrast pairing available from this palette is Black on White at 21.00:1 — use it for anything carrying text.
The weakest is Gold on White at 1.73:1, which is not usable for text at any size.

About the Boston Bruins palette
The Boston Bruins were founded in 1924 and compete in the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. Their primary colour, Gold #FFB81C, is a light, strongly saturated yellow.
National Hockey League teams call the jersey a sweater, a holdover from the knitted garments of the league's first decades. Colour matters differently here because the sweater is seen against white ice, which raises the contrast of every dark palette and flattens the pale ones.
Boston is also home to New England Patriots, Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox, which means local broadcast and print work often has to carry more than one of these palettes.
